The competition, open to Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students (18 years or older), challenges teams of up to 20 students to develop a game using Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE within a six-month timeframe. Teams will be guided by experienced Capcom developers, providing invaluable insights into cutting-edge game development techniques. Winning teams will receive game production support and the exciting possibility of commercialization.

The Power of RE ENGINE

The competition leverages Capcom's renowned RE ENGINE (Reach for the Moon Engine), initially created for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017. This powerful engine has since powered numerous successful Capcom titles, including recent Resident Evil installments, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. Its continuous evolution ensures high-quality game development.

Key Dates and Eligibility

The application period runs from December 9, 2024, to January 17, 2025 (unless otherwise stated). Participation is open to Japanese students aged 18 and older enrolled in eligible educational institutions. This initiative represents a significant step towards nurturing future talent and strengthening the Japanese video game industry.
