Split Fiction Continues With More Surprises
First Players to Finish "Laser Hell" Challenge Earn a Trip to Hazelight Studios
Following Split Fiction's highly successful launch last month, players have uncovered the game's notorious "Laser Hell" secret stage. After becoming the first to complete this punishing challenge, two streamers received a personal invitation from game director Josef Fares to visit Hazelight Studios.
Chinese streamers sharkOvO and E1uM4y documented their Laser Hell completion on BiliBili. To access the stage, players must input a precise sequence using elevator switches in the Isolation level. Successful execution transports players to a treacherous platforming section filled with deadly lasers.
Upon completing the challenge, the duo unlocked a special congratulatory message from Fares. In the video, he revealed that even most developers struggled with this stage and extended an invitation to visit their Swedish studio. After seeing their achievement, Fares confirmed on social media: "Very impressive! I'm keeping my promise - you'll visit Sweden for an early look at our next project."
Hazelight Studios Working On Its Next Game

In a recent podcast interview, Fares discussed Hazelight's creative independence under EA and revealed early development of their next title. "This time feels different - while everyone's thrilled with Split Fiction's reception, I'm completely focused on what comes next," Fares explained. "We've already begun work on our new project about a month ago."
Though keeping details under wraps due to the early stage of development, Fares emphasized the team's enthusiasm. "At Hazelight, we typically develop games within 3-4 years. When the time comes, we'll have exciting news to share."
The studio maintains full creative control under EA. "EA supports us unconditionally - they don't dictate our creative direction," Fares clarified. "They respect our process completely, which has helped us become one of their most successful partners."
