Dead by Daylight Will Make Highly Requested Change to The Nightmare
Dead by Daylight's Nightmare Gets a Much-Needed Overhaul
Freddy Krueger, or The Nightmare, in Dead by Daylight is receiving a significant rework in a future patch. This update aims to revitalize his gameplay, making him a more competitive and thematically accurate Killer. The core changes focus on increased flexibility and unique interactions based on whether Survivors are asleep or awake.
Currently considered one of the weaker Killers, Freddy's existing powers – Dream Snares and Dream Pallets – haven't quite kept pace with the game's evolution. This rework directly addresses these shortcomings.
Key Changes to The Nightmare:
The most impactful change is the ability to seamlessly switch between Dream Snares and Dream Pallets. This dynamic shift allows for more strategic gameplay and adaptability to changing situations.
-
Dream Snares: These are now significantly faster (12 m/s), traversing walls and stairs. Their effect varies depending on the Survivor's state: sleeping Survivors are hindered for 4 seconds, while awake Survivors accumulate 30 seconds on their sleep meter.
-
Dream Pallets: These can now be triggered to explode, dealing damage and impacting the sleep meter differently based on whether the Survivor is asleep (instant injury) or awake (60 seconds added to their sleep meter).
-
Teleport Improvements: The Nightmare's teleport ability is enhanced. He can now teleport to any generator (completed, blocked, or endgame) and will automatically teleport near any healing Survivor in the Dream World. This teleport reveals nearby Survivors (Killer Instinct) for a short duration and adds to their sleep meter. The teleport cooldown has been reduced to 30 seconds, but canceling the teleport is no longer possible.
-
Dream World Awareness: Healing Survivors in the Dream World are now constantly revealed by Killer Instinct, providing The Nightmare with consistent opportunities to teleport.
-
Alarm Clocks: Sleeping Survivors can use any alarm clock to wake up, but each clock enters a 45-second cooldown afterward.
Add-On Adjustments and Unchanged Perks:
Several of The Nightmare's Add-ons will be adjusted to encourage more creative loadout strategies. However, his perks (Fire Up, Remember Me, and Blood Warden) remain unchanged, potentially to preserve his original design intent, even if they aren't currently considered meta.
