Space Marine 2 Dev Confirms Ongoing Support
The unexpected reveal of Space Marine 3's development sent shockwaves through the Warhammer 40,000 community, raising concerns about Space Marine 2's future support.
Publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive announced Space Marine 3 in mid-March, just six months after Space Marine 2's release - during a period when fans were already questioning the game's post-launch content roadmap.
In a new statement, both companies directly addressed these concerns, reaffirming their commitment to Space Marine 2 while teasing exciting upcoming content.
"While we're thrilled by your enthusiasm for our Space Marine 3 announcement, we understand concerns about Space Marine 2's ongoing development," the statement read.
"Let's be clear: Space Marine 3's development doesn't signal the end for Space Marine 2. No teams are being diverted, and our commitment to delivering more amazing content remains unchanged."
The roadmap includes Patch 7's mid-April release along with plans for a new character class, additional PvE operations, and fresh melee weapons in coming months. "We've got surprises even data miners haven't uncovered yet :)" the statement teased.
This early Space Marine 3 announcement simply marks the project's inception - it's still years from release. Our decision to begin development now reflects our long-term vision for the franchise.
The confirmation of a new class has sparked intense speculation. Many predict an Apothecary (the Space Marine equivalent of a medic), while others hope for a warp-powered Librarian. The promised melee weapons have also generated excitement, with fans particularly hoping for an iconic axe featured in Warhammer 40,000's animated series.
The greenlight for Space Marine 3 follows Space Marine 2's commercial success. Saber Interactive's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits previously hinted at potential story DLC and sequel ideas during post-launch interviews with IGN, strongly suggesting narrative continuity between the games.
