Bloodmoon Island, a mysterious region in the north of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in intrigue and cut off from the mainland by the deadly Deathfog. The only bridge connecting it to the coast lies in ruins, making traditional access seemingly impossible. Venturing to Bloodmoon Island not only deepens the main storyline but also unlocks additional side quests. However, the game offers scant hints on navigating the Deathfog to reach the island, often leaving players scouring Reaper's Coast for clues. Below are the detailed methods to reach Bloodmoon Island and advance the story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.

Spirit Vision Shows The Way

Bloodmoon Island was once linked to Reaper's Coast by a bridge, now destroyed and blocking access. This bridge is located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the areas inhabited by Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. Here, casting Spirit Vision will reveal the broken segments of the bridge, some of which are trapped, complicating the crossing. However, with the right skills and items, traversing this spectral bridge becomes manageable:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the first act, these gloves enable teleportation without needing to learn the skill. Use them to teleport each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat allow for teleportation, which is invaluable for navigating the broken bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills, necessitating alternative strategies.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: The game provides four Teleporter Pyramids, special artifacts that allow warping between them. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once across, the rest of the party can warp to their location.
  4. Fast Travel: Alternatively, have a companion with translocation skills cross the bridge to uncover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing the rest of the party to fast travel there without needing to traverse the bridge.

Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog

While the bridge-crossing strategies are effective, parties including Fane have an additional option. As an undead character, Fane is immune to the Deathfog, enabling him to cross it safely. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman awaits at a pier, promising safe passage through the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive offer; everyone except Fane will perish during the crossing. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he will reach Bloodmoon Island unharmed and can then unlock the waypoint for the rest of the party to fast travel to.

Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party

If Fane isn't part of your party but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need to utilize Teleporter Pyramids. Here's how:

  1. Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion who will take the ferry.
  2. The companion will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island's pier.
  3. Use the second Teleporter Pyramid to warp the rest of the party to the dead companion's location.
  4. Revive the dead companion using a resurrection spell or scroll.

For parties without Fane, crossing the bridge is the most straightforward method to reach Bloodmoon Island.

It's advisable not to engage the Undead Ferryman in combat, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell that can instantly kill anyone nearby. If you decide to attack him, save your game beforehand. Defeating him grants you a Soothing Cold skillbook, a regular belt, and 3,750XP.
