Leslie Benzies, CEO of MindsEye developer Build A Rocket Boy (BARB) and former President of Rockstar North, intends to steer the studio toward a comeback with a MindsEye relaunch. As reported by IGN on July 4, Benzies discussed the current situation with staff during a July 2 video call.

Benzies stated that the team plans to recover and re-release MindsEye after its troubled launch. Developers have committed to working "around the clock" to resolve performance problems and bugs that players have encountered since the game’s release.

Earlier this week, BARB rolled out Update #3 as part of its ongoing efforts to address the game's issues. In a June 30 Twitter (X) post, the studio confirmed the update was live on consoles, with a PC version to follow later. The post explained, "We've analyzed hundreds of hours of gameplay and reviewed player feedback from various channels to identify and fix the most critical issues, enhancing the experience for all console players."

In addition to these hotfixes, BARB aims to deliver on the game's ambitious roadmap, featuring new missions, special collaborations, a multiplayer mode, and more, scheduled for release in the coming months. However, it's unclear whether these plans are feasible given the ongoing difficulties stemming from the game's disappointing launch.

Despite multiple updates since launch, the community remains disengaged from the bug-plagued shooter. According to SteamDB data, MindsEye currently has only 19 concurrent players. The game has also received "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam and holds a Metacritic score of 38.

At Game8, we assigned MindsEye a score of 46/100 due to its buggy, unoptimized, and underwhelming state. Although publisher IO Interactive promised an ambitious title, it suffered from performance problems and required more development time to refine its core features and mechanics.
