Developer Announces Major Tweaks to REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling
Exciting changes are on the horizon for REPO, as the developer aims to refine its difficulty scaling by introducing innovative mechanics every 10 levels. Dive into the details about the upcoming adjustments to the Overcharge mechanic and discover what the developers have been working on during the game's open beta.
REPO Development Updates
Overcharge Overhaul
REPO's open beta has provided invaluable fan feedback, prompting the developer, Semiwork, to focus on enhancing the game's Overcharge mechanic. This feature allows players to strategically counter enemies by lifting and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their team. However, this isn't a free-for-all action; players must manage an overcharge meter. When this meter reaches its limit, players risk exploding, adding a thrilling layer of strategy to the gameplay.Originally, the Overcharge mechanic was accessible right from the start, but following player feedback, Semiwork has decided to unlock it at level 10. The developers are also planning to introduce new mechanics that ramp up the difficulty every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and so on), making Overcharge the inaugural challenge in this progression system.
These new mechanics will not only enhance the gameplay but will also be intricately woven into the game's lore. As Semiwork's team explained, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."
Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking
During the recent open beta, Semiwork's developers immersed themselves in the player experience by participating in random matches. This hands-on approach allowed them to gather direct feedback from the community. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer from Semiwork, expressed his delight in observing players enjoying the new features, stating, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." He continued, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."
Semiwork is committed to using this community feedback to further refine REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates as the developers continue to share their progress and plans. To stay informed about the latest developments in R.E.P.O., be sure to check out our article below!
