Bethesda has officially confirmed that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will not feature official mod support, but this hasn’t deterred passionate fans from diving headfirst into creating their own unofficial modifications. Within hours of the game’s surprise launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S via Bethesda and Virtuos, several community-driven mods began appearing on popular platforms like Nexus Mods.

These initial offerings, while modest in scope, showcase the dedication of the modding community. Currently, over 20 mods are available on Nexus Mods, with the earliest ones allowing users to tweak minor aspects of the game. For instance, some mods let PC players replace the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut icon with images of the iconic Adoring Fan. Others aim to enhance convenience by skipping the introductory Bethesda and Virtuos logos, while a few mods go further by altering gameplay mechanics—such as tweaking spells like Wizard’s Fury or removing the compass entirely.

Despite Bethesda’s decision against official mod support, this wave of early modifications highlights the flexibility of the game’s underlying structure. Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming even created an Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that modding remains possible. In their description, they emphasized that while Bethesda claims no mod support, the game’s data folder retains the same core architecture as the original, proving that modding is indeed feasible.

As more players explore Oblivion Remastered, the modding scene is expected to grow exponentially, offering increasingly creative ways to tailor the experience to individual preferences. Fans eager to dive deeper can check out guides covering everything from walkthroughs to building the perfect character, ensuring there’s something for everyone in this beloved classic’s updated version.
