LEGO Launches In-House Gaming Projects

Author : Hazel Update : Mar 27,2025

LEGO CEO Niels Christiansen has shared exciting plans for the future, signaling a significant expansion into the digital realm through video game development. The iconic toy company is set to craft gaming experiences both independently and through strategic partnerships, aiming to enrich the play experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms.

"We are confident that, as long as we operate under the LEGO brand, we aim to create experiences for children of all ages across both digital and physical platforms. Developing games internally is something we are actively pursuing." - Niels Christiansen

This strategic pivot into in-house game development does not mean LEGO will abandon its successful licensing model with third-party developers. Just last month, journalist Jason Schreier revealed that TT Games, renowned for its LEGO-themed titles, is currently developing a new LEGO game, possibly linked to one of Warner Bros.' popular franchises.

LEGO's most prominent gaming collaboration to date is with Epic Games. Last year, the introduction of a LEGO-themed mode in Fortnite became an instant hit, illustrating the brand's potential to captivate gamers. Additionally, LEGO has a long-standing relationship with TT Games, known for their LEGO adventure series over the past two decades. Although the studio has been relatively quiet on new releases, rumors are swirling about a potential LEGO Harry Potter game, inspired by the commercial success of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

Further showcasing LEGO's adaptability in the gaming sector, the company teamed up with 2K Games to launch LEGO 2K Drive, a racing game released last year. These diverse ventures underscore LEGO's commitment to exploring new frontiers in digital entertainment while maintaining its beloved physical product line.
