Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: To become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces, particularly the Uncharted series, Remedy Entertainment aims to establish itself as a leading European game developer, mirroring the success of its American counterpart. Alan Wake 2 director, Kyle Rowley, revealed this aspiration in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, highlighting how this influence shaped both Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2.

Rowley's statement, "We should aspire to be the European version of Naughty Dog," underscores Remedy's commitment to cinematic storytelling and high-quality visuals, evident in Alan Wake 2's stunning graphics and gripping narrative. The game's success has solidified Remedy's position as a top European studio.

The influence of Naughty Dog, known for its critically acclaimed single-player cinematic experiences like Uncharted and The Last of Us (a PlayStation legacy and one of the most decorated franchises), is undeniable. Remedy's ambitions extend beyond the horror genre, aiming to emulate Naughty Dog's mastery of immersive, story-driven games.

Alan Wake 2, released over a year ago, continues to receive updates, enhancing the gameplay experience across all platforms. A recent update focuses on optimizing the game for the PS5 Pro, introducing a new "Balanced" graphics mode. This mode cleverly combines the strengths of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes, resulting in a smoother framerate and a cleaner image. Minor adjustments to graphical settings further contribute to a more consistent framerate and reduced visual noise. This update also addresses minor bugs, particularly within the Lake House expansion, improving overall gameplay.
