IGN can confirm that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at an Australian museum exhibition in September 2025.

The long-awaited sequel from Adelaide-based Team Cherry continues topping Steam wishlists globally. While the studio has only confirmed a broad 2025 release window, visitors to Melbourne's ACMI (Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture) can experience the game firsthand starting September 18.

Game Worlds Exhibition Features Silksong

Silksong will be showcased in the Game Worlds exhibition, offering players hands-on access alongside displays exploring the game's design philosophy and artistic vision through development artifacts.

"Since its 2019 announcement, Silksong has remained one of gaming's most anticipated indie titles," said ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell. "We're honored to feature this South Australian-developed masterpiece as a Game Worlds centerpiece, showcasing everything from Hornet's intricate sprite animations to the logic behind punishing boss encounters."

The exhibition will include exclusive development materials like this newly revealed sprite sheet (see below), shared with IGN with Team Cherry's permission, among other behind-the-scenes artifacts.

Release Speculation

With this museum exhibition confirmed for September, fans speculate the full release might precede the event - potentially aligning with Team Cherry's recent Switch 2 showcase appearance that finally locked in the 2025 window.

Originally announced for Switch and PC with later Xbox/PlayStation versions, Silksong's development journey has included several cryptic teases - including this year's infamous chocolate cake recipe that sent the fanbase theorizing about potential April reveals.
