Ygwulf in Avowed: Kill or Spare?

In the opening chapters of *Avowed*'s main quest, the Envoy faces a tragic assassination. After unraveling the mystery behind their own murder, the player discovers that the assassin is none other than Ygwulf, a member of the Paradisan Rebels who fiercely oppose Aedyr's presence in the region. As the Emperor's Envoy, you become a prime target for their cause.

How Ygwulf Makes a Case for His Freedom

Your journey to uncover the truth leads you through Paradis with Kai and Marius, culminating in the Untimely End quest where you identify Ygwulf as your killer. To reach him, you'll need to navigate through his underground hideout, overcoming numerous enemies and platforming challenges. Ensure you're well-equipped with Health Potions and the best gear available.

As you delve deeper, you might come across documents that shed light on Ygwulf's true intentions and his growing remorse. Initially driven by a misguided belief that the Gods demanded the Envoy's death, Ygwulf later acknowledges his error and expresses regret. Even if these documents elude you, he will share his remorse directly when you confront him at the quest's end, ready to accept whatever justice you deem fit.

What Happens If You Spare Ygwulf or He Turns Himself In? Answered

Opting for Ygwulf to surrender to the Inquisitor of the Steel Garrote is arguably the least favorable choice. If you send him to face Inquisitor Lödwyn, he will meet a grim and painful fate. However, choosing this path yields fewer rewards compared to sparing him or defeating him in combat.

If you choose to spare Ygwulf, he will offer you 625 Copper Skeyt and some Adra as a gesture of gratitude for your mercy. While these resources might not be game-changing, they can be useful. Unfortunately, sparing him does not alter his ultimate fate; he will still meet his end later in the story.

Here's Why You Should Kill Ygwulf in Avowed

Given that Ygwulf's destiny is sealed with death, the most beneficial course of action is to engage him in combat by choosing the Attack option during your dialogue. This not only provides valuable experience through the ensuing boss fight but also ensures you receive the best rewards available.

By defeating Ygwulf, you can claim his loot, including currency, Adra, and his unique armor set, Blackwing. Beyond its striking appearance, Blackwing offers significant advantages, such as a +30% damage boost when attacking from stealth and a 25% movement speed increase while crouching, enhancing your ability to navigate and surprise enemies.

Does Ygwulf's Fate Affect the Story in Avowed? SPOILER WARNING

Despite encountering Ygwulf early in the game, his fate subtly influences the ending of *Avowed*. After the final gameplay section, a series of artworks and narrations will illustrate the consequences of your choices across the Living Lands.

Regardless of your efforts to unify the Living Lands and foster peace, Ygwulf's death remains a constant, inciting the Paradisan Rebellion to become more radical and ensuring their continued violent opposition to your endeavors post-credits.
