How to Use Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia
Uncovering the most elusive ghosts in *Phasmophobia* sometimes requires employing items as risky as the ghosts themselves. Enter the Voodoo Doll, a Cursed Possession capable of both assisting and hindering your investigation. This guide details how to obtain and effectively utilize this potentially perilous tool.
How to Use the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia

The Voodoo Doll presents a calculated risk-reward scenario in Phasmophobia. While game updates have adjusted its mechanics, it remains a valuable asset. Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. Each of the doll's ten pins, when pushed, instigates activity, potentially triggering EMF5 readings or UV traces, especially useful when dealing with less active spirits.
However, each pin insertion comes at a cost: a 5% sanity deduction. Inserting all ten pins risks a significant 50% sanity loss, increasing vulnerability to ghost hunts. The most dangerous pin is the heart; pushing it triggers an immediate Cursed Hunt, a prolonged and intense ghost encounter (20 seconds longer than normal), along with a 10% sanity drop. Pin placement is random, adding an element of chance to each interaction.
Despite the inherent risk, the potential for accelerated evidence gathering makes the Voodoo Doll a viable strategy for well-prepared teams.
What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions (often called "Cursed Objects") are unique items randomly spawning across Phasmophobia maps, with frequency potentially influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode. Unlike standard equipment, which offers relatively safe evidence gathering, Cursed Objects manipulate the ghost, but at significantly increased risk to the player.
The risk-reward profile varies between objects. Using them is entirely optional; there's no penalty for avoiding them. Typically, only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
