Vampire Hunters in Bloodlines 2: What to Expect
A recent development update from The Chinese Room has shed new light on the intricate world of Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, particularly focusing on the vampire hunters known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). Operating on a shadow budget without official government backing, these hunters pursue their targets, referred to as "Hollow Ones," under the guise of conducting "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."
Leading the IAB's operations in Seattle is Agent Baker, a figure known for her disciplined pragmatism and dedication to the permanent eradication of vampires. With a meticulous approach, she delves into strange occurrences and historical data to uncover the links to the clandestine vampire society. Her authoritative presence has earned her the nickname "The Hen" among her dedicated followers.
The hunters under Agent Baker's command are exceptionally coordinated, securing their base with both external and internal vigilance. Confronting them solo is a daunting task, given their team-based tactics, use of spotlights, and communication via portable radios. In combat, they deploy thermic batons that negate defensive moves and phosphorous grenades to flush out adversaries from cover. Their sniper crossbows, equipped with explosive bolts, can cause devastating effects if not promptly removed.
Despite their formidable presence, the hunters have vulnerabilities. Being physically weaker than ghouls and vampires, they can be outmaneuvered with the right skills. For instance, players wielding the Fire ability can intercept grenades or bolts mid-flight and hurl them back at the enemy. Moreover, utilizing the Ventru clan's powers allows players to possess an enemy, turning them against their own team.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to captivate gamers on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S when it launches in the first half of 2025.
