Squad Busters 2.0 Hits Android Just Before First Anniversary!
Squad Busters is marking its first anniversary with the launch of its monumental update, Squad Busters 2.0, set to release on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game has struggled to reach the level of popularity that Supercell had hoped for. But with this major overhaul, could things be about to change?
This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two
Squad Busters 2.0 isn’t just a minor update—it’s a complete reboot, living up to its name. The core mechanics of battles and victory conditions are undergoing a significant transformation, aiming to reinvigorate the gameplay experience.
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of Heroes. Players will now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are based on existing characters, and if your chosen Hero is defeated, the game is over for your team.
Combat mechanics are also being revamped. Players no longer need to halt their movement to engage in combat; instead, movement and attacks are seamlessly integrated. This shift promises to make matches more intense, fast-paced, and chaotic.
The way victories are achieved is changing as well. Instead of needing to eliminate all opponents, the new goal is to take down the enemy Hero. While some players see this as a move towards a Brawl Stars-style gameplay with additional elements, it’s clear that Supercell is aiming to create a unique experience.
Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features
With the new update, several game modes like Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder are being removed. Additionally, some older skins and progression systems will be phased out. To soften the blow, Supercell is planning to compensate players with Hero Points and other in-game items.

It’s clear why Supercell is rushing these changes. Squad Busters hasn’t yet achieved the massive following enjoyed by games like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.
With the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is making a bold move to rekindle interest in the game. They’re planning a series of daily piñata events to celebrate, which will offer players chances to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.
You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store to experience all these exciting changes.
