Path of Exile 2: Ritual Guide – Passives, Tributes, And Favours
Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide
Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous leagues, detailing how to initiate them, their mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique reward system.
Identifying and Initiating Rituals
On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Once in a map with a Ritual, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. These modifiers might include massive rat swarms, or life-draining pools of blood.
To start a Ritual, interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large circle will appear; remain within it to defeat all enemies. Leaving the circle prematurely ends the event with no rewards. Successfully completing all Rituals in a map marks it as complete.
The King in the Mists: The Pinnacle Boss
The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtainable through Ritual rewards, unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists, the Ritual Pinnacle Boss. Use this item at your Realmgate on the Atlas to access the fight.
The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone). Defeating him awards 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique Ritual-exclusive items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree (bottom right), enhances Ritual events. It offers nodes to reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates.
The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing the King in the Mists' difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the Pinnacle boss at increased difficulty.
Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' for significant reward boosts with minimal drawbacks. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for increased chances of high-value Omens and 'An Audience With The King'.

Completing Rituals grants Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed equal more Tribute and more Favour options. Early Favours offer Magic items and low-level currencies; later ones unlock Rare gear and high-tier currencies, including 'An Audience With The King'.
