Palworld Mobile Version Is In The Works By The Makers Of PUBG
Krafton and Pocket Pair are joining forces to bring a mobile version of the popular monster-catching game, Palworld, to mobile devices. Krafton, known for PUBG, will leverage its expertise to adapt the core gameplay for a mobile audience through its subsidiary, PUBG Studios. This licensing agreement signifies a significant expansion of the Palworld IP.
However, details remain scarce.
The Palworld mobile adaptation is still shrouded in mystery. The original Palworld game launched on Xbox and Steam earlier this year, quickly gaining popularity. A PlayStation 5 release followed, excluding Japan, possibly due to an ongoing legal battle with Nintendo. Nintendo's lawsuit alleges patent infringement by Pocket Pair, specifically regarding the mechanics of capturing creatures, a similarity some have likened to Pokémon, even dubbing Palworld "Pokémon with guns." Pocket Pair, however, claims unawareness of the specific patents in question.
Krafton's involvement is strategic. With Pocket Pair focused on developing the existing game, partnering with a seasoned mobile game developer like Krafton is a logical step. Yet, it's crucial to temper expectations; the mobile project is likely in its early stages.
More information on the Palworld mobile version is eagerly anticipated, particularly regarding whether it will be a direct port or a modified experience. In the meantime, the official Steam page offers a comprehensive overview of the game's mechanics and features.
