Marvel Rivals: Top Character Rankings

Author : Gabriel Update : Apr 09,2025

Since its release, Marvel Rivals has introduced an impressive lineup of 33 characters, each with unique abilities that can significantly impact gameplay. With such a diverse roster, choosing the right hero can be challenging, especially since some characters excel in various scenarios more than others. I've dedicated over 40 hours to exploring every hero in Marvel Rivals, allowing me to assess their strengths and weaknesses comprehensively. In this tier list, I'll share my insights to help you identify the current top performers and those who might need a bit more attention from the developers.

It's important to remember that success in Marvel Rivals isn't solely dependent on the character you choose; teamwork and strategic play can lead to victory with any hero. However, this tier list focuses on the ease of achieving effectiveness and climbing the ranks with each character. The heroes at the top of the list are versatile and powerful in most situations, while those at the bottom may require more skill and coordination to succeed.

**Tier****Characters**
SHela, Mantis, Luna Snow, Dr. Strange, Psylocke
AWinter Soldier, Hawkeye, Cloak & Dagger, Magneto, Thor, The Punisher, Venom, Moon Knight, Spider-Man, Adam Warlock
BGroot, Jeff the Land Shark, Rocket Raccoon, Magik, Loki, Star-Lord, Black Panther, Iron Fist, Peni Parker
CScarlet Witch, Squirrel Girl, Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Namor
DBlack Widow, Wolverine, Storm

S-tier characters

Among the long-range duelists, Hela stands out as unparalleled. Her ability to deal massive damage, coupled with her area-of-effect capabilities, makes her a formidable force. A mere two headshots can eliminate most opponents, making her a prime choice for securing victories by choosing strategic map positions and aiming with precision.

Psylocke, while slightly more challenging to master, is equally effective. Her ability to turn invisible allows her to sneak behind enemy lines and strike from advantageous positions. During her Q, she becomes invulnerable and delivers significant area damage, which can be repositioned mid-use for maximum impact.

Mantis and Luna Snow are the top supports in the game, offering substantial healing that can greatly benefit mobile damage dealers like Spider-Man and Black Panther. Their ultimates are highly protective, making it extremely difficult for your team to die while they're active. Both also provide crowd control to counter enemy aggression effectively.

Dr. Strange is the most powerful defender, with a shield that can withstand even some enemy ultimates. His portal creation ability opens up numerous tactical opportunities, making him an invaluable asset to any team.

A-tier characters

Winter Soldier's ultimate is one of the game's most potent, dealing area damage and allowing reuse if an enemy dies shortly after being hit, often triggering a chain reaction of destruction. However, he becomes quite vulnerable while his ultimate recharges.

Hawkeye excels in ranged combat, capable of one-shotting fragile heroes. However, he doesn't reach Hela's level due to his vulnerability to melee duelists and the precision required for his aiming.

Cloak & Dagger is a unique duo that excels at both aiding allies and dealing damage, making them a versatile choice for players.

Adam Warlock can resurrect teammates and heal instantly, but using his abilities for team-wide healing results in long cooldowns.

Characters like Magneto, Thor, and The Punisher are powerful but rely heavily on team coordination. Without proper communication, they can become easy targets and contribute little to the team's success.

MagnetoImage: ensigame.com

Moon Knight's attacks deal bouncing damage, hitting both enemies and his ankhs. While his abilities are strong, attentive enemies can disrupt his plans by destroying the ankhs.

Moon KnightImage: ensigame.com

Venom, the symbiote, is a straightforward tank that wreaks havoc in enemy ranks. His E grants enough armor to continue fighting or retreat safely if timed correctly.

VenomImage: ensigame.com

Spider-Man boasts excellent mobility thanks to his web-slinging and a skill combo that can nearly eliminate any duelist or support. However, his fragility and the need to chase down enemies for the final blow keep him from reaching S-tier.

B-tier characters

If you're a fan of Fortnite, Groot might be your hero. He can create two types of walls: one damages enemies he shoots, while the other grants him extra health. These walls can block passages or serve as makeshift bridges.

GrootImage: ensigame.com

Supports Jeff the Land Shark and Rocket Raccoon can climb onto Groot to reduce incoming damage. While highly mobile, their healing capabilities are less effective compared to higher-tier supports.

Rocket RaccoonImage: ensigame.com

Duelists like Magik and Black Panther are extremely strong but often die from a single mistake. Spider-Man could also be included here, but his superior mobility allows him to escape critical situations.

Black PantherImage: ensigame.com

Loki's ability to transform into any character with his ultimate is powerful, but it means the team loses the healing expected from a support. His decoys make him elusive and help him deal decent damage.

Star-Lord is a solid choice for players with excellent aim. He can briefly fly, reload during evasive moves, and shoot in all directions. However, he's more fragile than other duelists, and his ultimate is often interrupted by death.

Iron Fist, akin to Master Yi from League of Legends, uses fists instead of swords. His flurry of attacks, healing meditation, and high speed make him both loved and vulnerable, as he lacks the durability to counter experienced players.

Iron FistImage: ensigame.com

Peni Parker is a mobile tank who sets traps on the map. She's strong until enemies destroy her nest, which spawns mines.

C-tier characters

Scarlet Witch may seem powerful in quick matches, but in reality, she struggles. Her attacks require minimal aiming but deal low damage. Her ultimate can kill any enemy regardless of health, but she's often killed while preparing it.

Similarly, Iron Man is highly effective when ignored but vulnerable in ranked matches where he's easily targeted. His ultimate is slow, and his missiles deal minimal damage.

Iron ManImage: ensigame.com

Squirrel Girl's attacks can hit targets she doesn't see, but their unpredictable trajectory often makes her reliant on luck.

Squirrel GirlImage: ensigame.com

Captain America and Hulk are the weakest tanks. Hulk is an easy target, and his transformation back to Bruce Banner is nearly useless as he's instantly killed. Captain America's shield is inferior to Dr. Strange's in every way, and his damage output relies on pairing with Thor.

Captain AmericaImage: ensigame.com

Namor's strength lies in his monsters, which are easily killed, leaving him ineffective apart from throwing his trident.

D-tier characters

In such a dynamic game, being a sniper is challenging. Black Widow fails to kill with headshots alone, undermining her role. Her close-range defense tools are rarely helpful.

Wolverine dies before reaching enemies and needs a complete rework to be viable.

WolverineImage: ensigame.com

Storm has potential but requires a coordinated team to capitalize on her abilities.

StormImage: ensigame.com

Even D-tier characters can lead to victory, but they require significantly more effort. Ultimately, the key is to play as the hero you enjoy the most, as games are meant to be fun. Share your favorite heroes in Marvel Rivals in the comments below!
