inZOI, PUBG to Introduce AI-Enhanced Co-Playable Characters
CES 2025 has certainly stirred the tech world, and the mobile gaming sector is buzzing with excitement. One of the standout announcements was the introduction of AI-generated "CPCs" - Co-Playable Characters. Unveiled by PUBG's Krafton on January 8th, CPCs are not your typical NPCs. These characters are powered by generative AI and are set to revolutionize gameplay in both PUBG and inZOI.
The integration of CPCs into inZOI is particularly intriguing. Dubbed "Smart Zoi," these characters will exhibit emotional depth and unique personalities, promising to make interactions within the simulation even more immersive and lifelike.
In PUBG, the "PUBG Ally" will dynamically adapt strategies alongside players, enhancing gameplay dynamics. Whether you find this exciting or a bit eerie is a personal choice, but it's undoubtedly a game-changer.
Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA ACE, CPCs will enable real-time conversations with players, adapting to various in-game scenarios. “Our collaboration with NVIDIA is a testament to the transformative potential of AI in gaming, and we plan to work closely together to push the boundaries of what is possible," says Kangwook Lee, Head of the Deep Learning Division at Krafton.
