Infinity Nikki Players Threaten to Quit Over Controversial Update 1.5 Changes

Author : Eleanor Update : May 16,2025

Infinity Nikki and its much-anticipated multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have officially launched on Steam, but the release has been overshadowed by a series of controversies and technical issues. Infold Games, the developers behind this stylish dress-up adventure, brought the game to Valve's digital storefront after months of exclusivity on the Epic Game Store. What should have been a celebratory moment for fans has turned into a battleground of technical glitches, unexpected design changes, and demanding new outfit requirements. In response to the backlash, Infold has issued an apology and promised compensation, yet the fight for the soul of Infinity Nikki is far from over.

Players eager to dive into Infinity Nikki's Steam release were met with a host of technical problems, from game crashes to general instability, preventing many from even launching the game. While technical issues at launch are not uncommon, the community's frustration didn't stop at performance. The introduction of two new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each requiring 11 pieces to complete, has caused uproar. This means players might need up to 220 pulls—and significant investment—to collect full sets, a substantial increase from what they were accustomed to, introduced without prior notice. Concerns are mounting that future outfits might demand even more pieces, exacerbating the challenge of collecting them.

Adding fuel to the fire, Infold extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks, causing confusion and unrest among players. Amidst these issues and the introduction of more demanding monetization strategies, the Chinese player base took to the social media platform RedNote to voice their discontent, sparking a global movement. Players worldwide are now rallying to boycott Infinity Nikki on Steam, leave negative reviews, and uninstall the game across all platforms.

"Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players," Reddit user kiaxxl stated in a call-to-action post. "For gacha games, tracking how successful a new batch of content is usually measured on the first few days. Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players."

The backlash has had a tangible impact, with Infinity Nikki currently holding a "Mixed" rating on Steam as players use negative reviews to warn others to steer clear until their demands are met and their grievances addressed. The boycott gained such momentum that Infold released an apology letter across their official channels, acknowledging the technical issues and promising improved communication regarding future adjustments.

Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho

Infold's apology included plans to revert the Mira Crown event to end on May 16 and start the next season on the same day, along with compensation for players in the form of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While this is a step forward, many in the community feel it falls short of the comprehensive changes they seek.

While some view Infold's concessions as a victory, others remain wary, particularly about the decision to maintain the 11-piece requirement for new outfits. The studio's commitment to better communication is welcomed, yet concerns linger about the future of five-star outfits and their potentially escalating piece requirements.

I wish you would finally chance the drop rate.. it cant be that i need 200 pulls to get a 5star and then you drop like 5 banners within weeks?! Make the rate lower or give us more diamonds to be able to get crystals.. this is not fun!

Despite the ongoing issues, Infinity Nikki stylists are celebrating the rapid response to their outcry, even if the results don't fully meet their expectations. The boycott leaders urge the community to keep the pressure on Infold.

"Think about it: CN players are pointing out that if we accept the 11-piece outfits and pity as it is, most new 5 stars will **be** 11 pieces," Reddit user EdensAsmr said. "Imagine if every new major update has two 11-piece 5-star banners? That means you have to save even more to be able to handle it, and 70-80 pulls per patch will **not** cut it."
