Rey Dau is the initial dragon monster you'll encounter in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. With its lightning element, it's immune to lightning-based attacks but vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. Targeting its head, rated at a 4-star weakness, is your best bet for dealing significant damage. If the head is too challenging to hit, aim for the wings, which have a 3-star weakness. Avoid the torso as it's heavily armored, and the legs are also well-protected. For status ailments, utilize everything except Stun and Paralysis, as they won't affect Rey Dau due to its lightning element.

Use a Flash Pod

To quickly subdue Rey Dau, deploy a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing an opportunity to land precise attacks. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, aim for its glowing red horns in Focus Mode to inflict substantial damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

To enhance your survival chances, equip gear like the Hope Armor set, which offers the Divine Blessing skill for reduced damage intake and resistance to Lightning and Fire. Complement this with meals that boost elemental resistance. If dodging is a challenge, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs, as the monster primarily attacks the areas in front and behind it.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau's tendency to fly between locations can be exploited. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to stun the monster briefly. Exercise caution when Rey Dau returns to its nest, as it can unleash a follow-up lightning attack that could stun you. Patience is key; avoid rushing the fight to prevent fatal shocks.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Beyond battling Rey Dau to the end, you can also capture it for rewards in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Weaken the dragon until it's near death, indicated by a skull icon on the mini-map. At this point, deploy a Pitfall Trap instead of a Shock Trap, as Rey Dau is a lightning dragon and immune to the latter. Follow up with a Tranquilizer to prevent its escape. Timing is critical, so be prepared to act swiftly.
