Rockstar Games' Unconventional Approach to GTA 6

GTA 6's Projected $1.3 Billion Day-One Revenue

GTA 6 Projected $1.3 Billion Day-One SalesNed Luke boldly predicts a staggering $1.3 billion in first-day sales for GTA 6. In a recent interview with Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, highlighting Rockstar's knack for the unexpected.

Luke urged patience, stating, "It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million debut in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass those figures. Market research firm DFC Intelligence forecasts over 40 million copies sold in the first year, generating $3.2 billion in revenue, with $1 billion attributed to pre-orders alone.

The Return of GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?

GTA 6 Projected $1.3 Billion Day-One SalesLuke also weighed in on the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online, unlike Trevor and Franklin.

Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a final GTA Online DLC or even GTA 6 itself. While Steven Ogg (Trevor) previously suggested Trevor's demise as a narrative device, Luke remained coy, stating, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6... Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything." Despite their enthusiasm, no official confirmation exists regarding their return.

GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?

GTA 6 Projected $1.3 Billion Day-One SalesFormer Rockstar animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with Kiwi Talkz, York emphasized GTA 6's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it."

York believes the game is likely in its internal testing phase, with playable builds potentially circulating amongst testers. He added, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras."

Following the December 2023 trailer, Rockstar has remained silent. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated, based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, no official release date has been confirmed.
