"The Exit 8: 3D Liminal Space Simulator Now on Android!"
The Exit 8 has made its way to Android devices, blending various intriguing elements into a unique gaming experience. Developed by Kotake Create and published by Playism, this game is available for $3.99. It's not just your average walking simulator; it's infused with an eerie twist that compels you to scrutinize every step you take.
A Creepy Walking Adventure
In The Exit 8, players navigate through what seems to be an endless underground passageway reminiscent of a Japanese metro station. You find yourself trapped in a loop where the tiles, lights, posters, and even the solitary man walking towards you repeat endlessly.
The challenge lies in detecting anomalies. Perhaps a poster displays a different image than before, or the lights flicker unusually. More glaring signs might include a river of blood replacing the floor. The game's core mechanic revolves around identifying these subtle changes and reacting swiftly.
If you notice something out of the ordinary, you must turn back. If not, continue forward. The objective is to reach the eighth exit flawlessly—meaning you must correctly spot and react to anomalies eight consecutive times. Fail, and you'll have to start over.
The Exit 8 Lets You Soak in a Surreal, Unsettling Atmosphere
The game's design draws inspiration from the concept of liminal spaces and the Backrooms. The setting mirrors real Japanese metro stations, such as Kiyosumi-Shirakawa Station in Tokyo, evident in its claustrophobic corridors and repetitive architecture.
The Exit 8 actively involves you in your environment, urging you to seek out the smallest details that might indicate danger or a shift in reality. This constant need to question your memory and perception ensures that each playthrough feels distinct.
Initially released for PC in November 2023, it took the developers about nine months to craft this experience. Upon its release, the game garnered 1.4 million downloads worldwide on Steam. Now available on mobile, you can download it from the Google Play Store.
