Dead by Daylight Unveils Classic Five Nights at Freddy's Gameplay

Behaviour Interactive has unveiled gameplay details for Dead by Daylight's new Killer, Springtrap, showcasing how his terrifying abilities will immerse Five Nights at Freddy's fans when the crossover launches June 17, 2025.

The studio shared exclusive insights with IGN ahead of today's public test build (PTB), revealing Springtrap's signature FNAF-inspired powers and his unique jumpscare mechanic - a first for Dead by Daylight's asymmetric horror gameplay.

This highly anticipated crossover promises to be one of Dead by Daylight's largest yet, starring Springtrap (known in-game as The Animatronic) - the axe-wielding yellow rabbit who terrorized FNAF lore but debuts here as his first ever playable iteration.

The murderous animatronic wields a massive pizza knife as his primary weapon, while his special Power involves throwing a fire axe that reveals survivor locations. Perfectly timed throws can lodge the axe in survivors' backs, triggering signature FNAF jumpscares when removed.

Adding Hollywood pedigree, Five Nights at Freddy's movie star Matthew Lillard provides voice and likeness for The Animatronic's Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional cosmetics include Glitchtrap, Clown Springtrap, Toxic Springtrap variants, and Freddy Fazbear-themed survivor shirts.

While Springtrap steals the show, the new Chapter also introduces Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria - a meticulously recreated version of the iconic restaurant with deadly Entity-inspired twists.

The horrifying new map features classic locations like the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room and Dining Hall, complete with appearances from Freddy's animatronic bandmates Bonnie and Chica. Beyond being another chilling arena, the pizzeria hides numerous Easter eggs and jumpscare surprises.

Even beyond the dedicated map, survivors will find security doors, cameras, and special offices spawning across all arenas - functional elements that authentically recreate FNAF gameplay while helping track Springtrap's movements (battery permitting).
