The Dungeon faction, also known as the Warlocks' faction, has consistently captured the hearts of fans within the Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era universe. Our initial delve into the world of Jadame introduced us to creatures inherently linked to this faction, each possessing their own territories across the continent. This allowed developers to weave a faction that is deeply embedded in tradition while also introducing fresh concepts, enriching the gameplay experience.

If we were to encapsulate the essence of the Dungeon faction throughout the series in just two words, "power" and "outcasts" would be fitting. Revisiting the realm of Enroth provides an opportunity to reimagine these formidable warlocks. Drawing inspiration from Jadame's lore, particularly from Might and Magic VIII: The Alvaric Pact, the Dungeon faction is reimagined in a new light.

Creatures once perceived as mere monsters now form alliances with red-skinned dark elves, who have historically been marginalized due to their pragmatic approaches. Through diplomacy, trade, and strategic pacts, they forge a united front, marking a significant evolution from previous iterations of the faction.

Throughout the Heroes series, skilled warlocks and commanding leaders have been integral to the faction's playable cities, each game presenting them in a unique light:

  • In Heroes I and Heroes II, followers of Lord Alamar and King Archibald were driven by the quest for power, rallying creatures that shared their ambitions under their banners.
  • In Heroes III, Nighon's warlords championed the philosophy that strength justifies dominance, ruling from subterranean tunnels with aspirations of conquering Antagarich.
  • In Heroes IV, chaotic sorcerers and thieves roamed Axeoth's swamps, uniting rogues to stake their claim in the burgeoning world.
  • From parts five through seven, Ashan's dark elves allied with the Dragon-Goddess Malassa and the underworld, crafting a narrative rich with intrigue and complexity.
