Escape from Tarkov update 0.16.0.0 changes revealed
Escape from Tarkov's latest update to version 0.16.0.0 has brought a wave of excitement to its player base, with Battlestate Games unveiling a comprehensive changelog detailing new features and bug fixes. Alongside this, a captivating new trailer has been released, showcasing the enhancements and setting the stage for what's to come.
Highlights of Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update
Battlestate Games has introduced an engaging new event called Khorovod, which not only brings special tasks and rewards but also introduces a unique Khorovod mode. In this mode, players are tasked with lighting a Christmas tree and protecting it, available at specific stages across six different locations. This festive twist adds a fresh layer of strategy and fun to the game.
A significant addition to the game is the Prestige system, designed to keep the thrill alive for grind enthusiasts. Similar to the mechanics found in Call of Duty, once players reach level 55, complete designated quests, and gather sufficient resources, they can opt to reset their character. This reset allows them to retain some equipment and earn rewards that remain unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, various cosmetics, and additional tasks. Initially, only two prestige levels are available, but Battlestate Games has promised to introduce eight more, ensuring long-term engagement for dedicated fans.
Other notable changes in this update include a switch to the Unity 2022 engine, enhancing the game's performance and visuals. A new Frostbite status effect has been added, where characters experiencing cold will suffer from reduced vision and stamina. Players can mitigate this by using alcohol, warm sources, and shelters.
The update also brings winter-themed upgrades and changes, along with a reworked Customs map featuring new textures, objects, and points of interest. Seven new weapons, including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher, have been added to the arsenal. Hidden exfils, which require special items to locate, offer new ways to exit raids. A new quest chain called BTR Driver, hideout customization, and a continuous healing feature have also been introduced. Recoil balancing and visual changes, along with numerous balance adjustments and fixes, round out the update.
With this update, a customary wipe in Escape from Tarkov has occurred. As servers go live in a few hours, players will have a plethora of new content to explore and master.
