Elden Ring Nightreign will not feature poisonous swamps

Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action game, will notably omit the poisonous swamps characteristic of many From Software titles. This was confirmed by product manager Yasuhiro Kitao during a recent press interview. While a swamp-like area appeared in the trailer, Kitao clarified it's a distinct location. The absence of the traditional poisonous swamps is attributed to the lack of involvement from Hidetaka Miyazaki, From Software's president, who is known for his fondness of incorporating such environments into games like Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki did not participate in Nightreign's development.

Interestingly, a two-player mode, currently absent from the announced one-player and three-player options, is under consideration. The developers initially excluded it due to content balancing difficulties. However, From Software is now exploring the possibility of adding this mode before the game's release.

Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
