Lords of the Fallen 2 Reveal Coming to Gamescom 2025

Marek Tyminski, CEO of Lords of the Fallen 2 developer CI Games, announced on social media platform X that the upcoming soulslike will be officially unveiled during Gamescom's Opening Night Live on August 19. While development has been confirmed for some time, this event will mark the first official look at the hotly anticipated project.

The news was initially hinted at last week through a cryptic post by perennial gaming show host Geoff Keighley. Fans immediately began speculating about various potential announcements, with rumors of a Bloodborne sequel gaining significant traction. Within 24 hours, Tyminski clarified that it was indeed Lords of the Fallen 2 scheduled for the Gamescom reveal.

Alongside the game's reveal, the development team mentioned in their monthly "Lifting the Veil" behind-the-scenes series that they will host a tattoo studio at Gamescom. They drew a parallel between the art of tattooing and the core themes of soulslike games: enduring hardship, artistic expression, and unwavering dedication.

This teased project is a direct sequel to 2023's Lords of the Fallen, which itself served as a soft reboot and follow-up to CI Games' 2014 title of the same name.

The original 2014 Lords of the Fallen is recognized as one of the first major games from a studio outside FromSoftware to attempt the Soulsborne formula, helping to pioneer the soulslike genre. Despite this ambitious effort, the initial release received a mixed critical and player reception, with generally average review scores.

Fortunately, the 2023 reboot proved significantly more successful, selling over one million copies within its first ten days—a milestone the original failed to reach in its first seven months. Despite facing numerous technical issues at launch, the 2023 title has achieved a respectable Metacritic score of 75, with many in the community now considering it an essential play for fans of the genre.
