Sakuna Mobile Spinoff Hinuka Junreitan Revealed

The upcoming mobile and PC title Sakuna: Hinuka Junreitan has been officially revealed by TOHO Games, Edelweiss, and G2 Studios. A free-to-play spin-off, it will be available on Android, iOS, and Steam.

Initially teased in November 2024, the project has now launched its official website and X account. With these platforms active, players can expect regular updates and announcements, likely including a concrete release date in the near future.

Sakuna's signature blend of rice farming and action is coming to mobile

The original game, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, launched in 2020 on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. It masterfully combined precise platforming combat with an incredibly detailed rice cultivation system, creating a unique hybrid of farming simulation and action RPG.

The game's compelling folklore, combat, and farming loop resonated strongly with audiences, leading to an anime adaptation, a manga series, and another spin-off titled Sakuna Chronicles: Kokorowa and the Gears of Creation. Sakuna Chronicles remains a separate project currently in development by Edelweiss and Marvelous.

Hinuka Junreitan is designed specifically for mobile, featuring a structure built around item-based microtransactions and live-service elements. Narratively, it will adapt the Sakuna universe into a more expansive, continually evolving format.

The original story follows Sakuna, a harvest goddess living in exile. Her journey involves meticulously managing a rice paddy while using a magical scarf to swing through environments and battle foes.

Notably, character progression was directly linked to the quality of the rice harvested. It will be fascinating to see how these core mechanics and new features are adapted for the mobile platform.
