"Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Character Switching Guide"
Quick Links
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll primarily take on the role of the Wanderer, embarking on a journey to restore peace to the land. Throughout the main storyline, you'll encounter numerous choices that shape your path, and regardless of your decisions, you'll often be accompanied by powerful companions into battle.
These companions will loyally follow you across the battlefield, but there's also the option to occasionally take direct control of them. Given their strength, playing as your companions can be far more effective than sticking with the Wanderer, even with his upgrades. Let's delve into how you can switch characters.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to control your companion is only possible during battles where you're accompanied by one. Before the battle, during the war council, you'll see the final menu option allowing you to select your companion. You can opt to go solo, but remember, you won't be able to switch to any companions mid-battle if you choose this route. Once the fight starts, keep an eye on the bottom right of your screen, where you'll see your companion's health bar positioned just above your own.
Directly beneath their health bar, you'll notice a blue bar, similar to your Musou bar, which fills up as you engage in combat. You can accelerate the filling of this bar by:
- Parrying enemy attacks
- Executing perfect dodges
- Attacking officers
- Utilizing weapon arts
Virtually any combat action will contribute to filling this bar, though at a slower pace.
When the blue bar for your companion reaches full capacity, a "Change Character" button will appear adjacent to the bar. To switch characters, simply press and hold this button for about a second. On Xbox, this is the View Button; on PC, it's the C key; and on PlayStation, it's the Touchpad.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
It's advisable to switch to another character during the heat of a major battle, as your companions are exceptionally powerful, and you'll only control them for roughly a minute. The blue bar that allowed you to switch will gradually deplete, signaling the time you have left with your new character. Once switched, your new character will come with full Bravery and a suite of combat arts, all of which are highly effective.
Switching to a new character also triggers them to enter the fight with a significant attack, so make sure to target an enemy at the moment of switching. Your companion will also have their own Musou and health bars, both fully charged, enabling you to unleash a devastating special attack on your foes.
