"Dune: Awakening Delayed Three Weeks for Beta-Inspired Changes"
Fans of Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi universe and Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed films will have to wait a bit longer for the immersive experience of Dune: Awakening, the eagerly anticipated open world survival MMO. Funcom, the game's developer, has announced a delay, pushing the release date to June 10, 2025. However, eager players can get a head start by purchasing the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition, which grants access starting June 5, 2025.

Funcom cited feedback from the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta as the reason behind the delay, stating they need "a bit more time to cook." This additional time will allow the team to incorporate valuable changes and improvements suggested during the beta phase. Moreover, the delay paves the way for a "large-scale beta weekend next month," offering more players the chance to dive into the game and provide further feedback.
While the delay might be disappointing for those eager to explore Arrakis, Funcom is keeping the excitement alive with a combat livestream scheduled for today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering a deeper look into what players can expect.
Here at IGN, we're thrilled about Dune: Awakening. Our hands-on preview stated, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."
