DOOM Now Playable on Apple Devices via Lightning/HDMI Adapter
The DOOM community never ceases to amaze with its innovative experiments on various platforms. Recently, a tech enthusiast named NyanSatan successfully ran the classic shooter DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This device, equipped with its own iOS-based firmware and a processor running at up to 168 MHz, became the latest unconventional platform for the iconic game. NyanSatan accessed the adapter's firmware using a MacBook, as the adapter itself lacks the necessary memory to run the game directly.
In other news, the upcoming DOOM: The Dark Ages is set to redefine accessibility in gaming. The development team at id Software is focusing on making the shooter as inclusive as possible. Players will have the option to adjust the aggression levels of demons in the game settings, providing a more tailored experience. DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer a wide range of customization options, surpassing those found in previous id Software titles.
According to executive producer Marty Stratton, the studio's goal is to ensure the game is accessible to a broad audience. Players can modify various elements such as enemy damage, difficulty levels, projectile speed, the amount of damage they receive, game tempo, level of aggression, and parry timing. This level of customization aims to cater to diverse player preferences and skill levels.
Stratton also confirmed that understanding the storylines of DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal does not require prior knowledge of DOOM: The Dark Ages. This approach ensures that new players can jump into the game without feeling lost in the narrative.
