In the eerie setting of a castle flooded with a crimson liquid, the Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks. You'll need to master the timing of these attacks to effectively manage your stamina and find openings for your counterattacks:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo featuring flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.
In addition to melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon various weapons:
- A giant hammer that causes damage and spawns red spikes upon impact.
- A spear that is thrown quickly followed by a teleporting smash.
- A blade that initiates a swift six-hit combo.
- The ability to disappear and dash around the battlefield before striking.
To progress, learn the timings of these attacks and use parries or dodges to create windows for your attacks. Deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina to land a Brutal Attack, and continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering Phase 2.
Phase 2

Phase 2 begins with the Blade Phantom using four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. After the spear hits the ground, avoid the affected area and prepare for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.
The Blade Phantom continues to use similar moves from Phase 1, with additions like:
- New claw attacks.
- A spear thrust and follow-up.
- Four to six sets of swift dual-wielding attacks.
- Increased teleportation frequency.
- Multiple greatsword slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol. To counter this, use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry successfully, which restores your stamina and leaves the boss vulnerable.
To maximize damage, strike the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted and only execute the Brutal Attack when the window is nearly closed. This strategy will help you defeat the boss more efficiently. Upon victory, you'll be rewarded with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
