Xbox Unveils Final Fantasy 16 Today, FF7 Remake Intergrade This Winter

Author : Lillian Update : Jun 16,2025

Xbox fans have finally received their long-awaited opportunity to experience some of the most recent entries in the iconic *Final Fantasy* series — with a surprise "shadow drop" of *Final Fantasy 16* available on Xbox Series X/S today. This marks a major milestone for the franchise, as it had previously launched exclusively for PlayStation 5 in June 2023 and later made its way to PC in September 2024.

Later this year, during the winter season, *Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade* will also make its debut on Xbox platforms. This follows a two-year gap since the original *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* first launched in 2020 for PlayStation 4, followed by the enhanced *Intergrade* version in 2021 for PS5 and PC.

The staggered release schedule has certainly kept Xbox players waiting, but the arrival of these titles this year strongly suggests that *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth* may not be too far behind — potentially arriving sooner than many expect.

“Its excellent story, characters, and world building are right up there with the best the series has to offer, and the innovative Active Time Lore feature should set a new standard for how lengthy, story-heavy games keep players invested in its world,” noted IGN in its review of *Final Fantasy 16*.

Meanwhile, in their *Final Fantasy 7 Remake* review, IGN added: “Its dull filler and convoluted additions can cause it to stumble, but it still breathes exciting new life into a classic while standing as a great RPG all its own.”
