Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 Coming to Switch 2 by 2025

Author : Natalie Update : Jan 05,2026

A Nintendo Switch 2 version of Red Dead Redemption 2 may launch by late 2025, alongside rumors of a next-gen enhancement for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

According to GameReactor, insiders close to Rockstar suggest the Wild West epic is coming to Switch 2, complemented by a performance patch for current-gen consoles. Though unconfirmed, sources hint at a potential late 2024 release.

This aligns with Nintenduo's report that the port could arrive within Take-Two's fiscal year ending March 2026. Retail availability—digital-only or physical copies—remains unspecified.

IGN hailed Red Dead Redemption 2 as a "masterpiece" in our 2018 10/10 review, praising its "meticulously crafted open-world tribute to the outlaw era."

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently expressed optimism about Nintendo's upcoming platform, noting improved third-party support compared to past generations. "We're releasing four titles for Switch 2—more than any previous Nintendo launch," he stated during an investor Q&A, leaving room for potential catalog expansions like GTA V or Red Dead Redemption 2.

The publisher's confirmed Switch 2 lineup includes Civilization 7 (June 5 launch), NBA/WWE 2K installments, and Borderlands 4 (September 12). While these franchises already appear on Switch, Zelnick's remarks suggest future surprises from Take-Two's back catalog—though GTA 6 seems unlikely.
