PS5 Pro: Late 2024 Release Hinted by Gamescom Developers
The gaming world is abuzz with excitement over the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro, especially following the latest discussions and insights shared at Gamescom 2024. Dive into the details about the PS5 Pro, including its potential specifications and the significant developments highlighted during the event.
PS5 Pro Was The Talk Of The Town During Gamescom 2024
Throughout 2024, fan theories and leaks about the PlayStation 5 Pro have fueled widespread speculation. However, the conversation reached a new level at Gamescom 2024, where developers openly discussed the upcoming console. Some developers have even adjusted their game release schedules to coincide with the PS5 Pro's launch, as noted by Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.
Palumbo revealed an intriguing insight: "Without even being prompted, a developer who wished to remain anonymous mentioned they had received the specs for the PS5 Pro and were confident that Unreal Engine 5 would perform significantly better on the new hardware compared to the standard PlayStation 5."
This statement aligns with a report from the Italian gaming site Multiplayer, which mentioned during a live stream that a developer had postponed their game’s release to align with the rumored PS5 Pro launch. Palumbo further emphasized, "Considering the information shared by Multiplayer, I'm confident this isn't the same developer. Additionally, the studio I spoke with isn't a major one, suggesting that a wide range of game developers already have access to the PS5 Pro's specifications."
PS5 Pro Releasing Soon, Analyst Says
Adding credibility to Palumbo’s observations and the developer insights from Gamescom 2024, analyst William R. Aguilar hinted on X in early July that Sony is poised to announce the PS5 Pro later this year. Aguilar suggested that this announcement might occur during the speculated State of Play in September 2024, indicating that Sony needs to act swiftly to prevent the PS5 Pro from cannibalizing sales of the current PS5 model.
This timeline mirrors the strategy used for the PlayStation 4 Pro's release in 2016, which was announced on September 7 and launched just two months later on November 10. Palumbo noted that if Sony follows a similar approach, "it is reasonable to assume an official announcement is imminent."
