Nintendo has rolled out another system update for the Switch just before the highly anticipated launch of the Switch 2.

As detailed in the concise patch notes, Nintendo Switch System Update Ver. 20.1.0 introduces minor adjustments, including the ever-present "general system stability" improvements.

The update also refreshes the appearance of parental control settings and modifies the startup sound when launching Nintendo Switch Online from the Home Menu.

The new audio tone boasts a more energetic vibe—possibly offering a preview of what Switch 2 users will experience when accessing NSO. X/Twitter user @Nexusvoyager demonstrated the audio changes in their post below:

@Nexusvoyager noted additional navigation sounds and UI refinements in the NSO app, likely aligning it with Switch 2's upcoming interface. This update effectively synchronizes the Nintendo Switch Online experience across both consoles.

Prominent Switch analyst @OatmealDome discovered that version 20.1.0 rebranded the "Basic White" and "Basic Black" themes as "Basic Light" and "Basic Dark," while adding Basic Dark theme compatibility to the NSO app.
