Set in a Seaside Village in the Continent

Mark your calendars for February 11, 2025, when The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep premieres on Netflix, as announced by Netflix Tudum. This captivating animated film draws its inspiration from Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," featured in the Sword of Destiny collection.

The story unfolds in a picturesque seaside village, embroiled in a centuries-old conflict between humans and merpeople. This unique setting prompts a kingdom from the Continent to enlist the services of a Witcher. Unlike his usual adversaries such as Basilisks and Cockatrices, Geralt will face the enigmatic merpeople in this thrilling narrative.

Fans of the series will be delighted to hear that Doug Cockle returns to voice Geralt, with Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprising their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer of Vengerberg. Christina Wren, known from the Will Trent TV series, joins the cast, voicing the new character Essi Daven.

The film benefits from the creative input of Andrzej Sapkowski, serving as a consultant. The screenplay is crafted by Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin, both writers from the live-action series. Kang Hei Chul, who previously worked on the storyboard for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs this new animated venture.

Takes Place During Season 1 of The Witcher's Live-Adaptation Series

Sirens of the Deep seamlessly integrates with the timeline of The Witcher's first season, occurring between episodes 5 and 6. Following the events of "Bottled Appetites," where Geralt and Yennefer reunite in Rinde after dealing with a bottled Djinn, Geralt is summoned by an unnamed kingdom to tackle a mysterious threat along its shores.

Given the geographical context, the film is likely set near the shores of Redania and Temeria. Specifically, the setting might be Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, as suggested by the short story "A Little Sacrifice." As we await the film's release, it remains to be seen how closely it will adhere to the original narrative.
