Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP: A Remaster Success Story

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player interest in this action-packed title. Despite initial technical hurdles and criticism regarding content changes, the game's sales figures highlight significant consumer demand.

Developed by Dragami Games (not the original Grasshopper Manufacture), this remaster of the cult classic features enhanced visuals and improved gameplay. The reimagining retains the core hack-and-slash combat, placing players in the role of chainsaw-wielding cheerleader Juliet Starling, battling hordes of zombies. The gameplay is reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

Months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the game's impressive sales milestone.

The game's narrative centers on Juliet Starling, a high school cheerleader who discovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is attacked by the undead. Using her trusty chainsaw, players engage in intense combat against diverse enemies and challenging bosses.

While the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 boasted over one million sales, RePOP's success is still noteworthy. The original game benefited from a unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (Grasshopper Manufacture) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), a partnership that contributed significantly to its appeal.

Currently, there's no confirmation of future DLC or sequels, but the sales figures suggest a positive outlook for remasters of cult classic games. This success follows the recent release of another Grasshopper Manufacture title, Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, demonstrating a renewed interest in bringing classic titles to modern audiences.
