"Killer Instinct Gold Joins Nintendo Switch Online Library"
Killer Instinct Gold has been recently added to the Nintendo Switch Online library, bringing the excitement of the classic Nintendo 64 game to modern players. This game is a port of the arcade fighter Killer Instinct 2, joining the original Killer Instinct in the ever-growing collection of retro titles available to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack subscribers.
Originally released in 1996, Killer Instinct Gold was crafted by the renowned British studio Rare, which was a prominent second-party developer for Nintendo during that era. Rare's portfolio from that time includes iconic games such as Donkey Kong Country, GoldenEye 007, and Perfect Dark for Nintendo's early consoles. In Killer Instinct Gold, players can choose from a roster of 10 formidable fighters and engage in intense battles across various game modes, boasting "hundreds of thousands of moves and killer Combos at your fingertips."
Now under the ownership of Microsoft, Rare and the Killer Instinct franchise have brought another Xbox Game Studios title to the Nintendo Switch. Although Microsoft reintroduced the series with the Xbox One launch title Killer Instinct in 2013, there has been no recent news about a new sequel in development.

Nintendo Switch Online is a subscription-based service that enhances the gaming experience on the Nintendo Switch platform. It offers online multiplayer capabilities, enabling players to connect and play with friends, as well as access to a vast library of classic Nintendo games from multiple generations, including titles from the NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and soon, the new GameCube libraries with the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. A free seven-day trial is also available for those interested in trying out the service.
Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 opened at the end of April, with the console priced at $449.99. The demand was predictably high, leading Nintendo to warn U.S. customers who preordered from the My Nintendo Store that delivery on the release date is not guaranteed. However, Doug Bowser, the head of Nintendo of America, expressed confidence to IGN that the company would have sufficient units to meet consumer demand "through the holidays."
