Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Won't Let the Unforgiveable Happen
MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a key gameplay detail: players won't be able to harm dogs. This article explores this decision and other aspects of the upcoming game.
A Dog-Loving Indiana Jones
While many games feature violence against animals, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle takes a different approach. Creative Director Jens Andersson told IGN, "Indiana Jones is a dog person." This commitment to a family-friendly image means that while Indy will engage in combat with human enemies, his interactions with dogs will be non-lethal. Instead of harming them, players will find ways to scare them off.
Andersson explained, "It’s a family-friendly IP in many ways," highlighting the studio's conscious decision to avoid animal cruelty in the game.
Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the game follows Indy as he recovers stolen artifacts from Marshall College. His adventure spans diverse locations, from the Vatican and Egyptian pyramids to the underwater temples of Sukhothai. Indy's whip will serve as both a traversal tool and a weapon against human foes in open-world-inspired environments. However, dog lovers can rest assured: no canine companions will suffer at the end of Indy's whip.
