Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Bonus Amid Success
The success story at Games Workshop, the renowned maker of Warhammer 40,000, continues to unfold with the announcement of a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus for its staff. Based in Nottingham, UK, the company behind the beloved Warhammer tabletop games and expansive universes reported a stellar performance for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025. Core revenue soared to £560 million, an increase from the £494.7 million recorded in the previous period. Licensing revenue also saw a significant rise, reaching £50 million from £31 million. The company's core profit climbed to £210 million, up from £174.8 million, while licensing profit jumped to £45 million from £27 million. This impressive performance led to a profit before tax of £255 million, a notable increase from the £203 million of the prior year.
In appreciation of the staff's pivotal role in achieving these results, Games Workshop is distributing £20 million among its employees, surpassing last year's £18 million bonus. With an estimated workforce of 1,500, each employee is poised to receive a £13,333 bonus, which translates to approximately $18,000. This move underscores the company's commitment to rewarding its team's hard work and dedication.
While Games Workshop's primary business revolves around the sale of miniatures for tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000, it is increasingly becoming a powerhouse in the intellectual property (IP) sector. The company has seen substantial revenue from blockbuster video games, such as the highly successful Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 released last year, and animations, including Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. A significant milestone was reached with the finalization of a deal with Amazon for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, set to expand into films and television series. Additionally, Space Marine 3 is currently in development, promising more excitement for fans.
Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that the record-breaking licensing revenue of this period may not be replicated in the 2025/26 fiscal year, though licensing remains a central focus. The Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer franchises are at their peak, showing no signs of slowing down, and the company is poised for continued growth and innovation.
Recently, Games Workshop hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, where a plethora of exciting announcements and trailers were unveiled. Key highlights included the launch of a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2, further enriching the gaming experience for fans.
