Sky: Children Ember Origins Unveiled

As a longtime admirer of thatgamecompany's Sky, I'm captivated less by the gameplay and more by its breathtaking visual style, immersive storytelling, and artistic presentation. Now, the studio is breaking new ground with its first in-game cinematic experience: The Two Embers.

This marks a significant milestone for thatgamecompany. Beginning July 21st, players can attend exclusive screenings of The Two Embers: Part One within Sky: Children of the Light. This wordless animation unveils the franchise's foundational myth through striking visuals and emotive score.

Delving into the narrative

The Two Embers unfolds across two installments. The first chapter follows two temporally-separated yet spiritually-linked children. We're introduced to a young orphan surviving in the crumbling outskirts of The Ruler's City, a once-prosperous metropolis in decline.

After discovering an injured baby manatee, the protagonist's journey becomes a poignant exploration of loss, isolation, and transformative compassion. Meanwhile, ominous storm clouds gather as The Ruler observes their deteriorating dominion.

Without spoken dialogue, the production conveys profound emotion through masterful animation and musical storytelling. The child's sorrow resonates deeply, while the gentle manatee offers subtle rays of optimism.

Sky: Children of the Light has released the debut trailer for The Two Embers: Part One. Experience it below!

The narrative will unfold weekly in Sky Cinema, a dedicated in-game theater. Accompanying gameplay expansions will allow deeper interaction with each chapter's themes and environments.

Revolutionary Storytelling in Gaming

By forgoing traditional distribution, thatgamecompany creates an unparalleled storytelling experience integrated within Sky's universe. Following the groundbreaking Aurora concert, this animated feature elevates the game to new artistic heights.

Produced by Light & Realm in collaboration with thatgamecompany, with co-production by Illusorium Studios and Orchid, this represents the studio's most ambitious cross-media narrative endeavor to date. New players can download Sky on the Google Play Store.
