"Duck Bucket" Added to REPO in First Update to Combat Duck Issue

REPO, the latest viral horror co-op game, has announced its first major update, introducing exciting new features to enhance gameplay. The developers at Semiwork Studios are set to add a "duck bucket" to help players fend off the game's unique threat, the Apex Predator—a seemingly harmless yellow duck that transforms into a terrifying monster when disturbed. This new tool will allow players to safely trap the duck, preventing it from turning into its monstrous form and attacking the team for 10 seconds. This update will also include new facial expressions and other quality-of-life improvements, making the game even more engaging and enjoyable for players.

Alongside the duck bucket, REPO's first update will introduce a new map called "The Museum," designed to test players' parkour skills. The developers have also announced plans to implement visible borders at extraction points to help players determine if their loot is within the extraction zone. Additionally, Semiwork Studios is working on public lobbies, responding to player feedback with plans for matchmaking options that include both public and private sessions, along with a kick button. However, they've noted that adding these features will be challenging and may delay the update.

Since its release in February, REPO has drawn comparisons to the popular online co-op horror game Lethal Company, due to similar mechanics and themes. Lethal Company's creator, Zeekerss, shared his thoughts on REPO via a Twitter (X) post on March 15, offering constructive feedback. He praised the game's fun factor and the unique objective of moving a grand piano through a cramped mansion, but suggested improvements such as increasing the voice chat range and reducing the muffling effect. He also noted that the game thrives in tight, mansion-like spaces rather than vast open areas. Zeekerss further commented on the need for in-game tutorials to help players understand enemy behaviors, expressing confidence that the developers are planning to address this.

REPO has quickly become a hit, currently ranking as the 2nd best-selling game on Steam behind Counter-Strike 2. It has achieved over 230,645 concurrent players, closely trailing Lethal Company's all-time peak of 240,817 players.
