Clair Obscur Studio Announces Official Esquie Plushie, Warns of Scams
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts a cast of memorable characters, but none might bring as much joy as Esquie, the game's endearing giant companion who could easily be mistaken for a mascot. Sandfall Interactive, the game's developer, has issued a warning about the proliferation of fake merchandise surrounding Esquie, while also teasing the development of an official Esquie plush.
In a recent post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account, Sandfall Interactive highlighted the emergence of several "suspicious" websites selling Esquie plushies. "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed," the studio emphasized. "Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams."
To counterbalance the excitement with caution, as Esquie might put it, Sandfall confirmed that it is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies and aims to release them as soon as possible. "In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" the studio advised.
Fans of the game can easily understand the high demand for an Esquie plushie. For those yet to embark on Expedition 33, Esquie is introduced as a giant helper in Act 1 of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, serving as both a traveling companion and a method of overworld travel. His charm and utility draw comparisons to Big Hero 6's Baymax, making the prospect of an Esquie plush all the more appealing.
Given the interest in Esquie, it's reassuring to know that Sandfall is developing an official product. A quick Google search reveals both unofficial sites and discussions about Esquie plush sellers. If you're keen on getting the authentic Esquie plush from Sandfall and Kepler, you'll need to wait a bit longer. There's no word yet on whether the real-life plushie will also contain wine, a playful nod to Esquie's in-game persona.
Last week, Sandfall Interactive rolled out patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which included balance adjustments to Maelle's Stendhal ability. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron recently lauded the game, describing its developers as a "shining example of French audacity and creativity."
