007 First Light Actor's Secret Identity Revealed by James Bond Fans
Fans of the legendary secret agent James Bond were quick to speculate on the identity of the actor portraying the younger version of 007 in the newly revealed game *007 First Light*. The latest trailer, unveiled during Sony's State of Play broadcast, introduces a fresh-faced Bond straight out of the Royal Navy, eager to prove himself and earn his coveted 00 status.
Within minutes of the trailer’s release, speculation on Reddit pointed toward Patrick Gibson, known for his standout role in *Dexter: New Blood*, as the likely actor behind this new iteration of Bond. Fans quickly noted the striking resemblance between Gibson and the character depicted in the trailer.
“I clocked it THE SECOND I saw the dirty smirk of his,” one fan commented. Another added, “Yeah I peeped that as soon as I seen it.” A third user chimed in: “Watching the trailer and knew the face looked familiar… After about a minute or so I screamed ‘DEXTER.’ I'm pretty sure it's him.”
At just 30 years old, Gibson is only a few years older than the 26-year-old Bond featured in the game — making him a fitting physical match for the role. He also brings with him a strong acting background, having appeared in popular series such as *Shadow and Bone*, *The Tudors*, and *The OA*. However, he's perhaps best known for playing a younger Dexter Morgan in the upcoming prequel series *Dexter: Original Sin*.

Interestingly, IO Interactive, the studio behind *007 First Light*, has yet to officially confirm Gibson’s casting, although IGN has reached out for comment. For now, Gibson appears to be staying silent on the matter.
A recent press release accompanying the trailer describes *007 First Light* as a globe-trotting, story-driven action-adventure title where players can choose how to tackle challenges — whether through brute force or the signature charm of Agent 007. The trailer showcased Bond delivering deadpan quips while navigating both danger and opportunity, suggesting Gibson’s dramatic range will be well utilized.
Scheduled for release sometime in 2026, *007 First Light* will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you missed the big announcements from Sony’s June 2025 State of Play showcase, you can catch up on all the details [ttpp].
