CD Projekt Red está estableciendo un nuevo estándar para el desarrollo de NPC en The Witcher 4. Tras los comentarios sobre Cyberpunk 2077 y The Witcher 3, el estudio pretende crear un juego verdaderamente Mundo inmersivo donde cada personaje no jugable se siente vivo.

El director del juego, Sebastian Kalemba, explicó su enfoque: "Tenemos una regla: cada NPC debe parecer que está viviendo su propia vida con su propia historia".

Este compromiso es evidente en el primer tráiler, que muestra el pueblo de Stromford. Los aldeanos se adhieren a supersticiones únicas y adoran a una deidad del bosque. Una escena muestra a una niña rezando en el bosque hasta que Ciri llega para luchar contra un monstruo.

Kalemba dio más detalles: “Nuestro objetivo es hacer que los NPC sean lo más realistas posible, desde la apariencia hasta las expresiones faciales y el comportamiento. Esto creará una inmersión aún más profunda que antes. Realmente estamos tratando de establecer un nuevo estándar de calidad”.

Los desarrolladores planean imbuir a cada pueblo y personaje con rasgos y narrativas distintas, que reflejen los matices culturales y las creencias de comunidades aisladas.
