Marvel Rivals mods with Trump and Biden removed, Nexus Mods owner threatened

A modding controversy has erupted around Marvel Rivals after Nexus Mods removed over 500 user-created modifications in a single month. The removal of mods replacing Captain America's head with images of Joe Biden and Donald Trump sparked significant backlash.

Nexus Mods' owner, TheDarkOne, clarified the situation on Reddit, stating that both mods were removed simultaneously to prevent accusations of political bias. TheDarkOne noted the curious silence from YouTube commentators on this simultaneous removal.

However, the controversy escalated as TheDarkOne reported receiving numerous threats following the removals. TheDarkOne stated, "We're receiving death threats, being called pedophiles, and enduring various insults simply because someone chose to escalate this issue."

This isn't the first time Nexus Mods has faced criticism over mod removals. A 2022 incident saw the removal of a Spider-Man Remastered mod that replaced rainbow flags with American flags. At the time, Nexus Mods publicly supported inclusivity and stated its policy against removing content that promotes diversity.
