Following Nintendo's Switch 2 announcement, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer confirmed Xbox's commitment to continue supporting Nintendo's platforms. This partnership allows Xbox to reach players beyond its own ecosystem.

In a Variety interview, Spencer discussed plans for Nintendo's next-gen console. "Just as we've supported the original Switch, we intend to support Switch 2," he stated. "Nintendo has been an excellent partner, giving us access to players who don't use PC or Xbox consoles."

Growing Xbox's Gaming Community

Spencer emphasized the strategic value of this collaboration: "This partnership helps us expand our community of players who care about our franchises. Investing in our games across platforms remains a priority for us."

The Xbox executive expressed strong admiration for Nintendo's industry influence: "I truly believe in Nintendo's importance to gaming, and we'll continue supporting them. Having Nintendo's support for our franchises is crucial for Xbox's future."

Continued Cross-Platform Strategy

Spencer previously praised Nintendo's innovation following the Switch 2 teaser, reaffirming Xbox's multi-platform approach. The company remains committed to releasing games across PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo systems.

When asked if the Switch 2 reveal impacted Xbox's console plans, Spencer responded: "Not at all. Our focus remains on serving our gaming communities. While we draw inspiration from other creators and platforms, we're confident in our roadmap."

The executive reiterated Xbox's strategy to make games widely accessible through cloud, PC, and consoles. Several Xbox titles like Pentiment and Obsidian's Grounded have already launched on Switch, with more expected for Switch 2.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches officially on June 5, 2025. While pre-orders aren't yet available, readers can stay informed through our dedicated Switch 2 pre-order coverage.
