Here’s the official description of System Shock 2:

Set 42 years after the events of the first System Shock, the antagonist SHODAN and her army of merciless mutants have taken over the starship Von Braun. Players take on the role of a soldier who awakens from cryo-sleep with cybernetic implants. As he explores the derelict starship, he must develop his upgradable skills and use powerful weapons and paranormal psionic abilities to confront SHODAN's monstrous creations and endure her god-like delusions.
